Brothers Pearses 4.02 V Croydon 1.05

Brothers Pearse and Croydon camogie club contested the start the junior championship on Sunday 5^th of June in Greenford. The game produced a fantastic display of skill and team play that didn’t leave spectators disappointed.

It was the goals that won it for the Brothers Pearse on this occasion all from the captain Christine Murphy whom shone throughout the game. It was a fiercely contested game as Croydon sustained a good battle to compete against Brothers Pearse. Therese Doyle played very well in goal and was always aware danger was never far, as Bridget Hehir for Croydon played a great game and team play to score the opening point from a ‘45’. However, Christine Murphy responded with point from a ‘45’. It was not long when Christine Murphy was awarded a free with which resulted in a goal. The luck was certainly on the Brothers Pearse side as Christine Murphy took another two outfield shots that resulted in goals. The score now stood at 3-1 to 2 points at half time. The Brothers Pearse intentions were clear on taken all given opportunities that came to them and they certainly did just that. Ciara Mcdermott scored a great goal with fantastic movement hand passing. However, Croydon were not giving up and responded with a well taken goal from Clare Lenihan The Brothers Pearse defence were under pressure but Niamh Pilkington, Evelyn McCaffrey and Emer Bermingham certainly didn’t show it, as they defended superbly, with Croydon’ s mean of getting scores through points. Brothers Pearse women were well dissevered winners as the game ended 4-2 to 1-5.
